ridge TRAVEL: wins

One of my main projects at Ridge was to expand our Travel line. Some of the wins:

  • Sourced new manufacturer

  • Product design and development, including frequent communications with manufacturer

  • Created QC requirements documentation

  • Evolved Ridge soft goods design language and applied to several future products.

  • For main body fabric, cut lead time in half and reduced yardage price by around 35%

  • Reduced cost of logo plate assembly by around $1.20—this makes a big difference for lower-MSRP products!

Commuter Pro

This was a refresh of the original Commuter Backpack (the predecessor to the one below). Some of the changes we made:

  • Light gray interior (changed from black), eliminating the “black hole” effect. This became part of Ridge soft goods brand language.

  • Refined overall shape of the bag

  • Slimmed down the water bottle pockets while also increasing their capacity

The Commuter Pro is a full-featured zippered backpack for the working professional. What makes it “Pro”? A little more space, an adjustable divider in the main compartment, and a dedicated zippered laptop pocket.

Commuter backpack

Designed for simplicity and versatility, the Commuter Backpack is ready for anything. But simplicity doesn’t need to sacrifice capability: featuring a laptop sleeve, internal organization, water bottle pockets, and a self-standing design, the Commuter is as functional as it is sleek. It’s the backpack you grab for a spontaneous hike… or the one you use on your daily commute.

everyday sling

These sleek, durable companions bridge the gap between overstuffed pockets and full-on backpacks, keeping you prepared for both the planned and unexpected. It’s the missing link in your everyday carry!

hardshell sling

The Hardshell Sling pushes the boundaries of EDC so you can push the boundaries of life. The Makrolon Polycarbonate shell gives you impact protection, while the pockets inside offer maximum organization.
